Kuala Lumpur | Two rivals claimed victory on Sunday in Malaysia’s general election that delivered a hung parliament, setting the stage for yet more political instability that has dogged the country.

Anwar Ibrahim’s reformist coalition Pakatan Harapan won 82 of the 220 parliamentary seats in Saturday’s election, while former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s Malay-based Perikatan Nasional was not far behind on 73.
