Japan’s ambassador to Australia believes the two countries are now “closing in” on making their relationship as strong as the respective relationship each has with Washington.

Kazuhiro Suzuki took up the post in May last year replacing Shingo Yamagami, an emissary whose contributions to political debate ruffled diplomatic feathers in Canberra, especially with the Albanese government.
