Without downplaying hunger in some countries, it is important to recognise how much was avoided by informed and vigorous public action on food security, especially in Asia.

It has been a tough year for hundreds of millions of households across the world since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Major food supply chains, especially for wheat, corn and vegetable oils, were disrupted overnight. The spike in food prices came on top of record high prices fuelled by post-pandemic supply chain disruptions.
