China warns Trump of ‘forceful measures’ over broken trade truce

Tokyo | China has accused the United States of seriously breaching a recently agreed trade truce, warning it would take “resolute and forceful” measures to defend its interests.

China’s Ministry of Commerce’s strongly worded statement on Monday is the latest sign that the pause in the trade war between the two superpowers reached in Geneva is unravelling. The statement also threatens to derail efforts to revive high-level talks between Beijing and Washington following the trade truce agreed last month.
