Tokyo | Beijing on Thursday vowed to hit back at Donald Trump’s latest round of tariffs, after the US president piled an additional 34 per cent levy on Chinese imports as one of the centrepieces of his much-flagged “liberation day”.
The latest impost, stacked on top of an earlier 20 per cent tariff and some historic taxes, threatens to further ratchet up tensions between the world’s two largest economies and upend global trade relations.
