Jakarta | Ratifying the long-awaited trade deal between Indonesia and Australia is set to become one of the early achievements of President’s Joko Widodo’s second term, and one heralded by its supporters as a shot in the arm for trade diplomacy.
Indonesia’s new Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto has committed to “intensifying communication” with the country’s parliament so the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA), signed in March, “could be completed immediately”.
