Andrew Reeves had his career plan set. After 39 years working in consumer goods, in 2016, he decided it was time to retire from a full-time executive role and develop a portfolio of boards. First, one at Keytone Dairy – now known as Halo Foods – and then at Inghams, the country’s largest chicken producer.

Reeves, 67, and his wife, a professional executive coach, were excited about this next stage, which they hoped would involve more time with their children and grandchildren.
