When Gary Fitz-Roy was kicked to the kerb by his employer, he was devastated. Working for an exhibitions company, he was ordered off site and back to the office, where the keys to the company car were taken from him and he was given a box of his belongings and shown the door.
"I didn't even have the cab fare home," Fitz-Roy recalls.
