‘Army’ of engineers drive Ubers as local firms reject foreign workers

Hundreds of fully qualified engineers are either unemployed or working menial jobs because Australian employers refuse to look past their surname, according to the profession’s lobby group.
Engineers Australia chief executive Romilly Madew says unconscious bias is rife, with overseas-qualified engineers often applying for hundreds of jobs before being given a start.
