Australia’s 50 biggest givers top $1b in donations for the first time
Australia’s top philanthropists are in a hurry to spend their money – and sizeable, eye-catching donations are back in vogue. From the upcoming annual Philanthropy issue out on Friday, April 28.

The rush by two of Australia’s biggest philanthropists to give away all of their money within the next 12 years as well as a generous donation for pandemic research have pushed total spending by the top 50 givers past $1 billion for the first time.
MYOB founder Craig Winkler and his wife, Di, established the Yajilarra Trust in 2009 to fund causes with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, climate change and disability. The privately run trust tops the latest Financial Review Philanthropy 50 list with a total spend of $165 million, up from $104 million on the previous list.
