Why the ESG pushback isn’t about Trump

Large parts of the world want access to the things we take for granted, and that means large amounts of reliable and affordable energy.

President Donald Trump will get blamed for many things, but the pushback on ESG shouldn’t be one of them.

Recent decisions by large US financial institutions BlackRock and JPMorgan to join other major financial institutions and exit the UN-backed Net Zero Asset Managers Alliance – launched with great fanfare just over three years ago at COP26 in Glasgow – were years in the making and well before President Trump’s re-election last November.
