Facebook isn't actually trying to block regulation of the internet industry, despite its lobbying the ACCC not to pursue laws that would regulate the algorithms that decide who sees what news in Facebook feeds, a senior Facebook executive said.
Rather, it's simply trying to "inform regulation, to explain the complexity and the challenges in different areas" when it says that laws governing its secret algorithms would be an "over simplistic" response to the problems that Facebook and Google have created in the Australian media and advertising industries.
