Tough jail terms for deepfake porn peddlers under new laws

Australians will face jail terms of up to seven years for sharing non-consensual pornographic images and videos – whether real or AI-generated – under laws introduced to parliament on Wednesday.
The tough new laws, which create new criminal offences applying to the sharing of sexually explicit material without consent, will also raise pressure on tech companies to stop their products being used abusively.
