Time to end the age of anonymity online
Adir ShiffmanColumnistAfter the Christchurch massacre social media platforms faced enormous pressure from politicians and regulators for their horrendous record of propagating appalling content, who displayed their lack of tech understanding by demanding huge penalties unless magical AI is used to rapidly cleanse any offensive material.
As well as being technically undeliverable, this approach focuses on treating symptoms rather than curing disease. And in the social media age, the disease of our society is anonymity.
