The ASX co-founder now selling DIY AI ‘girlfriends’
A fast-growing generative AI company co-founded by ex chief executive of an ASX-listed pet-sitting business is quietly making millions of dollars by allowing its users to create their own digital girlfriend or boyfriend.
Candy.AI launched in September last year and has amassed millions of users. It’s one of many “AI girlfriend” start-ups taking market share from sexual content sites like OnlyFans by letting customers build virtual partners who interact with them using large language models.
An earlier version of this article said Alexis Soulopoulos was chief executive of Mad Paws. Mr Soulopoulos clarified after publication that he left the ASX-listed business earlier this year. It also said OurCrowd director Yoav Silverstein and Adrian Murphy of Murphy Family Office were directors in Candy.Ai. Since publication, they have clarified their unit trust has a convertible note in the Maltese parent company, Ever Ai. They are also directors of an Australian based company with the same name, Candy Ai Pty Limited.
