Sam Sicilia, the man holding the purse strings at top-ranked superannuation fund Hostplus, says its relatively young member base allows him to go all in on depressed tech stocks and be “greedy when others are fearful”.

Mr Sicilia last week refused to disclose whether Hostplus had joined other institutional investors in writing down the value of Canva – one of about 4000 private equity investments believed to be held by the fund.
