Optus scores English Premier League rights for six more years
Optus has sealed a deal to continue as the exclusive broadcaster of English Premier League (EPL) football for the next six seasons, winning a blind auction process it described as “very competitive” and also locking in rights for the FA Women’s Super League until 2024.
The competition for the rights has been under significant scrutiny since Optus surprisingly lost coverage of the popular UEFA Champions League to streaming service Stan in June, with Stan, Paramount+, Amazon Prime Video and Foxtel’s Kayo thought to have been potential bidders for the EPL rights.
