New tools show companies how to avoid building bad tech

Australia’s cyber safety tsar has released a set of self-assessment tools designed to help internet start-ups build platforms free from bullying, racism, ageism, terrorism and the myriad other ills that have plagued social media since its inception.

The online tools, which provide checklists, videos and other information showing start-ups and small companies how to build “safety by design” into their products, might also have the other benefit of helping businesses avoid bearing the brunt of new online safety laws, now before Senate, which the internet industry complains are rushed, over-reaching and draconian.
