Lachlan Murdoch among big-name backers for firm promising ad-funded phone bills

A who's who of the Australian media, business and tech sectors, including Lachlan Murdoch, Margaret Jackson and Catch of The Day co-founders Hezi and Gabby Leibovich, have piled in to back a start-up that plans to let consumers pay their smartphone bills by watching adverts.

The company, called Unlockd, has developed a technology platform that allows telecommunications providers to offer customers the option of watching ads to earn mobile credit, or even pay for their entire phone plans.
