Investors pile in as ex-strategy consultant banks $29m for start-up

Blackbird Ventures has led a $28.7 million funding round in First AML, a New Zealand-based start-up founded by a former Bain & Company strategy consultant, and a pair of corporate bankers, after using the company’s software to make sure it doesn’t back companies that facilitate money laundering.

First AML co-founder and chief executive Milan Cooper said the company’s expansion into Australia earlier this year had gone well, and it had already hired 11 staff locally.
