Cochlear’s UK acquisition knocked back by competition watchdog

Healthcare giant Cochlear’s acquisition of a Danish hearing loss device maker has been knocked back by the UK competition watchdog. Analysts expect the deal to ultimately succeed after a consultation process.
The ASX-listed healthcare giant announced its plans to acquire Denmark-based Demant’s Oticon Medical subsidiary for $170 million last April, signalling its plans to expand into the hearing loss segment.
