Investors in geothermal energy hopeful Hot Rock have seen their shares gain almost 7 per cent after the company unveiled a 170 per cent jump in the size of its Otway Basin resource estimate.

That makes that resource the seventh biggest of the Australian geothermal companies, said analyst John Young at Wilson HTM Investment Group.
