The resignation of former Victorian Liberal premier Denis Napthine as chairman of the National Disability Insurance Agency on Monday conveniently coincided with the release of a new report by Grattan Institute CEO Danielle Wood detailing the cancerous growth of government jobs for mates.

Minister for the NDIS Bill Shorten in February, back when he was a humble opposition portfolio haver, tweeted Napthine’s proposed appointment by Linda Reynolds was “a disgrace”. I guess we’ll call that delivering on a pre-election promise. But perhaps it also signals an end of an era for the Coalition’s jobs for the boys.
