Did the Grattan Institute vastly underestimate the malignancy of the Coalition’s jobs for mates?
Michael RoddanNational correspondentThe resignation of former Victorian Liberal premier Denis Napthine as chairman of the National Disability Insurance Agency on Monday conveniently coincided with the release of a new report by Grattan Institute CEO Danielle Wood detailing the cancerous growth of government jobs for mates.
Minister for the NDIS Bill Shorten in February, back when he was a humble opposition portfolio haver, tweeted Napthine’s proposed appointment by Linda Reynolds was “a disgrace”. I guess we’ll call that delivering on a pre-election promise. But perhaps it also signals an end of an era for the Coalition’s jobs for the boys.
