While the West’s national security apparatus sounds the alarm about TikTok over its connections to the Chinese government, another social media app has been digesting yet another not-so-loud Australian government crackdown.

Owned by Chinese technology titan Tencent, WeChat is believed to have about 1 million users in Australia, highly concentrated among this nation’s Chinese diaspora.
