The Greens, Australia’s most tedious political party, protested the Canberra Press Gallery’s Midwinter Ball last week due to sponsors Woodside Energy and Shell that covered 7 per cent of the costs of the fundraiser.
No such gripes were aired over fellow sponsors Johnson & Johnson (which this week paid $300 million to settle pelvic mesh implant class actions). It was the garbs of Sarah Hanson-Young, whose dress was emblazoned with “END GAS and COAL”, and the dress of Adam Bandt’s partner, Claudia Perkins, inscribed with “COAL KILLS GAS KILLS”, which stole headlines.
