There was a bit of a barney that led to the appointment of prominent Sydney barrister Alan Sullivan to sit on the NRL commission last year.

Eventually, the commission’s chairman, Peter V’Landys, put forward Sullivan’s name to the nominations committee, and he was later billed in the press as “one of the most respected commercial lawyers in the country”.
