Spotlight founder Morrie Fraid splurges on Bombardier private jet
Joe AstonColumnistHaberdashery Rich Lister Morrie Fraid is clearly getting expansive in his advanced years, having taken delivery of a private jet this summer. Fraid, a major investor in David Di Pilla's Home Consortium that recently bought 82 current and future Masters sites from Woolworths, established SGA Aviation Australia in October last year, and on December 12 took delivery of a pre-owned 2009 Global Express. So far we've tracked it to Hawaii and the ski town of Aspen, Colorado. From there it flew to bumf--- Queensland, to the black coal shrine of Emerald (at last year's Global Tourism Awards it was narrowly pipped by Aspen for the title of Best Small Town in the World). What to do with that prime hole in the ground right on High Street and Al Gore Boulevard?!
Market value for a second-hander of these specs would be in the vicinity of $18 million, cheap compared to a mint Bombardier right off the factory line. Given he co-founded fabric retailer (and nanna heaven) Spotlight, we'd hate to see the drapes he's commissioned for his new runabout. And just imagine the blankies!
