The Wallabies’ series victory over France clinched on Saturday night at Suncorp Stadium is cold comfort next to Rio Tinto’s quarterly production report, released Friday, which confirmed the extent (so far) to which the company’s era of French leadership has crippled its star operating division, its entirely Australian arm, its “cash machine”: iron ore.
