On Thursday in the United Kingdom (early Friday morning here), Rio Tinto shareholders will vote on a proposal by activist British hedge fund Palliser Capital to collapse the miner’s dual-company structure.

This is a big decision, unifying a structure under which Rio has thrived for 30 years.
