It’s fair to say the parlous state of the West Tigers has many fathers. But a few months back, assistant coach (and former star hooker) Robbie Farah was told by coach (and best mate) Benji Marshall his contract wasn’t being renewed.

Of all who could swoop on a free agent, Barclay Pearce Capital announced late last week that Farah was joining its wealth management division as its “director of athlete wealth management”. Johnathan Thurston was also recruited. Is getting boofheads to invest in the ground floor of IPOs a better use of their salary than spending on some of the game’s other illicit delights? Undoubtedly.
