After its members last Tuesday resoundingly saw off a proposal to admit women as full members, you might think Sydney’s Australian Club has had a difficult week.

But any discomfort its notoriously private membership felt is nothing on the travails of those at the similarly single-sex Weld Club in Perth, every one of whom had their name splashed across the pages of The West Australian on Saturday.
