Justice Anthony Besanko’s judgment in the Ben Roberts-Smith case will forever be remembered as a landmark win for journalism in this country. But it’s worth lingering for a moment on the deep-pocketed enablers who an Aussie war criminal turned to in a crisis.

There is plenty of blame to go around. Media mogul and Victoria Cross fetishist Kerry Stokes said he’d not spoken to BRS about the judgment, but the decision “does not accord with the man I know”. Stokes apparently had no idea his once-star recruit was not – dare we say – man enough, to front his judgment day, opting instead to soak by a Balinese pool.
