It's been 19 years since John Olsen resigned the South Australian premiership after being accused of having misled Parliament during the Motorola controversy, back when that sort of thing warranted a resignation. And the now 75-year-old, who shouldn't be confused with the artist of the same name, shows little sign of slowing down.
After helping steer Steven Marshall's Liberals to a long-overdue victory as the state Liberal Party president in 2018, he was earlier this year hand-picked by Scott Morrison to be the federal party president (replacing another ex-premier in Nick Greiner, who took one of Olsen's old jobs as Australia's New York consul-general). And on Tuesday, he was named as the chairman of the Adelaide Crows. Who are, incidentally, at the bottom of the AFL ladder, for the first time ever.
