John Olsen grasps the spoon as Crows' new chairman
Myriam RobinRear Window editorIt's been 19 years since John Olsen resigned the South Australian premiership after being accused of having misled Parliament during the Motorola controversy, back when that sort of thing warranted a resignation. And the now 75-year-old, who shouldn't be confused with the artist of the same name, shows little sign of slowing down.
After helping steer Steven Marshall's Liberals to a long-overdue victory as the state Liberal Party president in 2018, he was earlier this year hand-picked by Scott Morrison to be the federal party president (replacing another ex-premier in Nick Greiner, who took one of Olsen's old jobs as Australia's New York consul-general). And on Tuesday, he was named as the chairman of the Adelaide Crows. Who are, incidentally, at the bottom of the AFL ladder, for the first time ever.
