It’s a dreary fact of the nation’s education system that the most prestigious private schools are often twisted proxies for parents’ various political causes. Perth’s St Hilda’s didn’t stand a chance once its most famous former student got involved.
Last year, Gina Rinehart found an audience with Sky News to rail against St Hilda’s for teaching students a curriculum that she considered (you guessed it) “woke”. Rinehart had seemingly done some keyword searches of the curriculum and concluded by “rough estimate” that “one-third” was what she called “anti-Australia … propaganda”.
