Cancel culture forgot the Monash chancellor

While its causality remains somewhat smoky, Ziggy Switkowski’s resignation as chancellor of RMIT was announced last week after the National Tertiary Education Union led a revolt over his appointment as chairman of casino operator Crown Resorts.

NTEU Victorian division secretary Melissa Slee shrilly denounced Switkowski as if he’d been convicted of serious criminal charges, not invited to lead an ASX 100 company. “RMIT needs a chancellor whose values align with those of the university community. We need leaders who are dedicated to the advancement of teaching and research and who are committed to the welfare of students and staff,” Slee said.
