The not so dirty secret of the clean energy transition is it’s the World Cup Finals for rent seekers. Tens of billions of dollars are being shot out of cannons replacing the grid, or just waiting to be deployed as subsidies. Energy lobbyists are crawling the halls of parliament frothing at the mouth.

Ground zero is the umbrella industry groups. The Clean Energy Council is one, a dial-a-quote advocate for the renewables industry. On Wednesday, it gathered at Canberra’s Park Hyatt for its annual conference.
