Banker showdown at the Australian Open men’s final

We’d call it a Trumpian sign of the times. But really, anytime Ash Barty isn’t playing, the turn-out to the Australian Open men’s final almost always entirely eclipses that of the women’s. At least as far as heavy-hitting corporate guests are concerned.

The captains of industry made no exception this year, billions of net worth controlled by the suits lined the stands on Sunday night, where Jannik Sinner triumphed over Alexander Zverev in straight sets. Not that we paid much notice. We were too busy watching the prime seats, where three duelling investment banks put on a show.
