Unsold units, office conversions qualify for 40,000-home tender

Purchases of unsold apartment stock and office-to-residential conversions are eligible projects for funding the Albanese Labor government will make available from Monday as it seeks to develop 40,000 new affordable and social homes over the next five years.

The renovation of uninhabitable existing homes will also qualify for funding along with construction of new dwellings as the first tender under the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) and separate National Housing Accord kicks off.
