Sunito v Sathio: inside the feud that killed the Crown Group empire

The property developer had global ambitions before a disagreement tore it asunder.

It’s 2020. Crown Group has become one of Australia’s largest private developers of residential towers, amassing net profits of more than $100 million in seven years.

From that success, Crown’s two Indonesian-born founders, Iwan Sunito and Paul Sathio, each earned dividends of between $3 million to $6 million every year from 2014 to 2020, according to the company’s financial documents.
