The NSW capital this week farewelled namesake, architect and water polo player Nino Sydney, an immigrant who took the name of his new home and showed suburban Australia how it could live differently.
Sydney was not the original name of the man who died on January 3 – aged 89 and survived by his wife Vera and children Mark, Danny and Maya – and was remembered by mourners at Sydney’s Macquarie Park Cemetery for his sporting prowess and his iconic Beachcomber homes.
