Proposed NSW property tax talks unusually secretive
If the intention is to mitigate the huge upfront costs, it should be examined whether simpler solutions to the problem exist.
Matthew CridlandContributorThe NSW government is considering replacing stamp duty and land tax (if applicable) with a lower annual property tax. Although much of the focus has been on the impact for first home buyers, the proposals relate to all real property classes.
The aim of the proposals is to ultimately, over decades and via an opt-in system, abolish duty on real property transfers.
