Housing not so ‘impossibly unaffordable’ after all

Australian housing isn’t as “impossibly unaffordable” as an international survey claimed last month because the US-based Demographia report only considered the value of detached houses and not apartments in its latest annual ranking.

A revised comparison by finance company FrontYa of Sydney’s median dwelling price – not house price – to median household incomes cut the price to income ratio in the NSW capital from the 13.8 times Demographia’s report claimed to 9.1 times.
