Speculation over the fate of the Kushner Companies' flagship Fifth Avenue office tower has replaced Monopoly as the favourite parlour game of the real estate set.

The Kushners have attracted enormous public attention because of their connection to President Donald Trump. Jared Kushner, Mr Trump's son-in-law, was chief executive of the company until he joined the White House in 2017 as one of Mr Trump's key advisers.
