Data centre builders fight infrastructure for heavy cranes

Australia’s growing demand for data centres is pushing up costs for specialised cranes at twice the rate of ordinary commercial tower cranes, even as other sectors of construction plateau.
The number of cranes used on data centre projects leapt from 13 six months ago to 22, according to Rider Levett Bucknall’s (RLB) latest crane index, while the national total fell from a record 882 to 869.
