Charter Hall buys into reopening trade with $1.7b pubs deal
Busy property fund manager Charter Hall will become the landlord of some Australia’s best known pubs – including Sydney’s Crows Nest Hotel and Young & Jackson in Melbourne – after partnering with industry fund Hostplus to buy-out ASX-listed ALE Property Group in a $1.68 billion deal.
The deal will make Charter Hall the biggest pubs landlord in the country and give it a front-row berth in the reopening bounce expected across the retail and hospitality sectors as heavy lockdowns are eased in Sydney and Melbourne.
