Federal independent MP Andrew Wilkie has vowed to hold the majority Labor government to account over its commitment to climate action and an integrity commission, worrying it is weak on both fronts.
The 16-strong crossbench, Mr Wilkie said, would give its imprimatur to good policy and fight bad policy, despite not holding the balance of power in the lower house, after Labor won one seat more than the 76 required for a majority.
