Victorian Liberals promise to bring back state debt cap

The Victorian opposition has vowed to set a limit on net debt under future Coalition governments as part of a new strategy that stakes its claim to power on better management of the state’s lacklustre economy than Labor.
Economists welcomed the pledge as a way to potentially rein in Victoria’s ballooning state debt and prevent a further credit downgrade.
