Queensland’s omicron wave is expected to peak in the next two weeks, just as school is set to return for the new year.
The state recorded 15,122 new COVID-19 cases and another seven deaths on Monday. Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the official tally of 86,953 active cases was likely to be a lot higher as the omicron variant circulated in the community.
