A plan to break up the ABC’s Sydney-centric television production would lead to more job losses and slash local content, the industry body representing film and TV producers says.

Screen Producers Australia has savaged a bill, introduced by Senator Nick Xenophon in November, saying it would “harm the ABC" and jobs in the $1.7 billion independent ­production sector.
