Miles’ 50¢ fares unlikely to save Queensland Labor

Queenslanders will pay 50¢ for a bus or train ride for six months in a pre-election cash splash pundits say will not be enough to save the Miles Labor government and which economists say risks stoking inflation.

Queensland Labor is on track for defeat at the October 26 poll after almost a decade in power. It trails the Liberal-National Party in most leading polls following sustained criticism of its handling of housing, crime and health.
